Few questions – interview with HUMAN COMPOST

Few questions – interview with HUMAN COMPOST

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc. ?

Geoff – Human Compost was founded by its bass player and mastermind, Chris, as well as our rhythm guitarist Eddie. The name has been with them for a while but the band really started to rehearse and produce music in 2013. We play an old school blend of death metal and goregrind, with lots of horror movie influences.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Geoff – I handled all steps of the production myself. I have a small home studio where I can do recordings of my and others‘ bands.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Chris - 500 CD's total. They were released through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, couldn't be happier with the way they turned out, they're a great label.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Geoff – I wrote the lyrics. Some of the themes were chosen by Chris, who wrote a lot of the songs about specific horror movies (Maniac, Legion, Seven Doors of Death, etc) while others were gruesome themes of my own choosing (Urethral Maggot Infestation, Towers of Silence, etc).

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Chris - The logo was drawn by Diko Nursyahra, same person who did the album artwork. He's very easy to work with and understands the ideas i'm going for perfectly. I find social networks like facebook and such to be very important for bands actually, very helpful and convenient way to promote your stuff. It's like modern day tape trading.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

Chris - Horror Pain Gore Death Productions released our album. I found out about them through our friend Aaron from the band Cropsy Maniac (who also did some guest solos on our album). Their name 'Horror Pain Gore Death' represents everything we glorify in our music! Great label, couldn't be happier with the release and the way they've been promoting it. We would definitely like to work with them again on future releases.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Chris - Mortician is number one. Impetigo, Lord Gore, Machetazo, Autopsy, Repulsion, etc.. Most of our songs are inspirted by horror movies and themes.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Chris - We sent them to a few, I can't exactly remember which ones off hand, but the general response was that they're booked up with releases for the next few months. Horror Pain Gore Death was an immediate reply and very eager to work with us right away.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Geoff – Honestly we haven’t been counting. Our ideal sort of gig is in an intimate setting where we aren’t isolated from listeners, so not a very large stage, but not one where there’s no room for anyone either! It’s hard to pinpoint a favourite performance because the beer and liquor tends to flow when we play, but generally the further from home we play the better it is.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Geoff – We would like to grow our presence within the brutal music scene. We’re hoping From The Grave They Crawl can catch on and create a demand for us in festivals and tours.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

Chris - Chris - Easiest and fastest way to contact us is through our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/humancompostcanada

Thanks for the interview and interest in our band! Cheers!

Thanx for the interview.
