A few questions – interview with death metal band from Lithuania - CRYPTS OF DESPAIR

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc. ?

Good day. We are a 4 piece band from Lithuania called Crypts of Despair which was founded in 2009. We play Death metal although we do not try to actually fit ourselves in the frames of an exact genre.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Studio wise conditions were very good. We recorded everything at „Lapes Records“ studio in Kaunas, Lithuania with Laurynas Baškys and Gints Lundbergs. Mixing – Mastering was done by „The Devils Mark“ studios in Rome, Italy.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Before we signed with a label we had sort of a special edition self release 20 copies of our album on cassette (pro 4 panels booklet, with photos, lyrics etc) for two gigs with Luctus and Demonomancy and now after our signing we will have digital, cd – 1000 copies and vinyl 300 copies. Strictly limited, out via „Testimony Records“ (check their bandcamp, bigcartel)

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

All the lyrics were written by S.J. except two songs (Enslaved in Blasphemy and Fleshless Eternity) by B.J. This time, everything deals with the atrocious nature of humankind and hatred for these beings, to expose humanity‘s disguting face.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Logo was created by Saulius. We don’t have a website, so not sure what do you mean. Social media these days is an ineviteble part of our daily lifes and if you want to put yourself out there and get heard – you have to use it.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

„Testimony Records“ showed genuine interest in us and our music first of all as a listener, not just as a plain bussiness. That factor was very important to us and we agreed to work with this label. Our partnership has just started but so far we are very pleased working with them.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Too many to mention. We all listen to all kinds of music, but most of the time all members share same taste. Inspiration mostly comes from daily life, surroundings, as our debut album name indicates it.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

We had sent to as many relevant labels as possible. We got a few answers but nothing too much.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

During the period of starting our band and after brake we played many gigs. Mostly in our country. In 2017 we started to play more not only in Lithuania (we had a gig in Poland – Warsaw and recently England – London. ). We like to play all the relevant gigs and it doesn’t matter what kind of – festival or club. Every gig is a special celebration in one way or another. I wouldn’t say we have a „best“ performance because we always see room where we could improve ourselves and little by little everything gets better everytime.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Getting album released, make tours, play all around as much as possible and hit the studio for another album, maybe at the end of 2018.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

Majority of communication goes via facebook and email, you can find a way to contact us here: https://www.facebook.com/cryptsofdespair
